What are the beaches and town like in Rodanthe?

(Louisville, Kentucky)

We are headed to Rodanthe on Friday and have never been. We are looking forward to a relaxing beach vacation but we also like to get out and grab a drink and dinner. Any suggestions in or close to Rodanthe?

Very Sincerely,
K. Blakeley

Rodanthe fun
by: Dan

Hi K.,

Thanks for your question. You will find the beaches of Rodanthe pretty wide in most places (except for the northern end due to erosin where they had to move some of the houses). Rodanthe is part of the "tri-village" with Waves and Salvo, the northernmost beach towns on Hatteras Island. There is plenty to do, including go-carts for the kids. In addition, there is plenty of water sports, like fishing, waverunners in the sound and even wind surfing and kite boarding.

There are some restaurants in this area, with plenty more in Avon, the next town south of the group of three. On the restaurant page read the recommendations from Rick, Craig, and us for someof our favorites on Hatteras Island. We very much enjoyed Coastal Blue, but Rick speaks about some old time favorites that have become standards on Hatteras Island (Diamond Shoals and Mack Daddy's to name a few).

Hope this helps and have a wonderful vacation!

Kind regards,
Dan
