Thanksgiving week for adults / older teens.

by Lisa
(Tidewater, VA)

Hi,
We will be in Duck, NC for Thanksgiving week. This is probably our fifth year coming at this time. Do you have any ideas of activities for adults and/or older teens?

We have been to or seen the horses/lighthouses/schoolhouses/Whalehead Club / Wright Memorial / Manteo activities/ segways / kayaked, etc..

Because my sister and her family fly in from Cincinatti, I would like to have a few 'different' things planned. Any suggestions??

Does the Whalehead Club do a 'ghost' tour at night? Maybe wine tastings somewhere?

We really enjoy being there for Thanksgiving. I would appreciate any ideas or thoughts that you may have.

Thank you.
Lisa

Thanksgiving Week Activities
by: Dan

Hi Lisa,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, but I have been scouring the various events calendars to see where I might direct you. Like you, we enjoy visiting the Outer Banks over the holidays, except we typically visit between Christmas and New Years.

Mostly, what I have found is great shopping opportunities,as businesses try to relieve their inventories before they shut down for the winter.

I also noticed, in checking our calendar, that there are some art and crafts related activities. These may be fun for the adults, but I am not so sure for the teenagers.

So, let me point you in another direction. We have a series of articles that were written by an OBX artist about "Hidden Gems" on the Outer Banks. These are about various activity and locations that most visitors woudl never know existed. You have been to most f the advertised places, like the horses, lighthouses, etc., but these are places that you might not have explored yet.You might want to give these 18 articles a read and see what you think. They are located near the bottom of the page in the link in this paragraph.

Hope this helps.
