Sea Scape Golf Links:
The Granddaddy of Outer Banks Golfing

The Sea Scape Golf Links is located in Kitty Hawk, right down the street from where the Wright Brothers succeeded in first flight. One round and you will know why. The wind definitely is a factor on this Scottish links golf course, which has been described as "a little bit of Scotland in the Outer Banks". Built on part of the narrowest section of the Outer Banks, the winds from the ocean, about three blocks to the east, or from the sound, which is about a mile to the west, will keep you guessing all day. It is one of the six championship Outer Banks golf courses.

The Sea Scape Golf Links located in Kitty Hawk, NC This 6,256 yard Par 72 course opened in 1965 and was designed by Art Wall, the 1959 Masters Champion. This was the only course Wall ever designed. The Sea Scape Golf Links was carved out of rolling sand dunes and maritime forest. The course was renovated in the late 1990s in anticipation of hosting the 2000 North Carolina Open. It was again renovated in 2005, which further updated new tees and greens, as well as, several hole re-routings. Look to play against the wind on the 410 yard Par 4 eleventh hole, and Sea Scape will test your abilities as well as your patience, with five par 3’s and five par 5’s. Bryan Sullivan is the director of golf, and Kevin O’Bey is the head golf professional.

There are four sets of tees (see chart below for yardage) as follows:

  • Championship - Black

  • Middle - Gold

  • Senior - White

  • Ladies - Red

Green fees, including carts, generally run about $50 during January and February to about $100 during the summer months. The fees do vary by month, so check with the club for actual rates. In addition, the club does have separate rates for twilight, 9-hole, and a Preferred Guest Pass. The Kilmarlic Golf Club in Powells Point and the Seascape Golf Links have arranged for a two day pass between the two courses. The course is open year round. Tee Times can be made anytime but it is recommended that they be reserved in advance.
