This shot was taken on vacation during a walk on the beach in Rodanthe, May 2009. The Rodanthe Pier was a great vantage point to shot panoramic views of the beach from an ocean perspective. I also got some great action stills of the waves breaking on either side of the pier. The belly of this structure was inspiration for this great reflective shot. I held the camera as close as I could to the ground (without actually getting the camera wet) and framed the shot using my live view. The piles reflecting off of the wet sand give it a cool visual texture.
The Outer Banks continues to be my favorite place to vacation. Hatteras and Ocracoke islands have such a natural, un-developed feel to them, and is the perfect place to discover the east coast in a natural setting. The Outer Banks is now forever in my soul...I cannot wait to go back and snap some more shots!
