On our first trip to the Outer Banks in 2000 we stayed in the Avon area. We found the Diamond Shoals Restaurant in Buxton when looking for a place that served breakfast. It soon became our standard place to go for both breakfast and dinner.
The coffee is rich and flavorful for breakfast and they always have a selection of local fresh seafood. The setting is casual and the owners and staff are very friendly. If you looking for a place to start your day before going fishing or to the beach or looking for good local fare the Diamond Shoals Restaurant is the place for you.
Number of Times Been There: Every time we go to the Outer Banks
Reservations recommended: No
A good bakery is a must when you go on vacation. On our first trip to Avon in 2000 we asked a local and without hesitation they sent us to the Orange Blossom in Buxton. While their selection of baked goods and breads are very good, their “apple uglys” are to die for. We have been going to the Outer Banks for 9 years and have been back to the Orange Blossom at least twice per visit. They also serve great coffee and sandwiches. In the summer be prepared to stand in line but the wait is worth it.
Outer Banks Restaurant: Mack Daddy's Seafood Grill & Raw Bar
The last three years that we have been going to the Outer Banks, my wife and I arrived a couple of days before the rest of our family. We found Mack Daddy’s and it has become a tradition to go there before the rest of the crew descends on us. My wife loves seafood and I am a big duck fan. Neither of us have been disappointed. Both their salads and desserts are a big compliment to the entrée. In our estimation it is the best restaurant in the town of Avon.
