My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to the Outer Banks and we want to know of some of the beaches that are clean, fun, and pretty. We have never been to the Outer Banks, and would appreciate any tips you might have.
The beaches on the Outer Banks have been recognized as some of the best beaches in the US by Dr. Beach, with Ocracoke and Hatteras Island being on the list in consecutive years. All fit the criteria of ?clean, fun and pretty?. Perhaps none more so the beaches of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore which covers the majority of this stretch of beach. If you are looking for privacy, these beaches are what you might want to consider. Our house in Salvo borders a part of these beaches, and if there are more than a dozen people on the beach, that would be a lot. This area is also known for its great water sports, be it surfing or kiteboarding As with all of the Outer Banks, it is home to some great fishing.
If you are looking for even more seclusion, you may want to stay in the four wheel drive area north of Corolla. In addition to great beaches, this is also home to the Corolla wild horses.. Look for the town of Carova for places to stay.
The area not mention is the stretch of beach from Corolla to Nags Head. This is where the majority of people vacation when on the Outer Banks. It is also the stretch where you will find most of the night life, and other things to do. The beaches may seem a little more crowded, but they are not overflowing and can accommodate everyone comfortably.
