Need help finding an OBX rental house ...

Hello,

I read your section on renting a house to a non-family/under 25 year olds and how it might be difficult but not impossible. I have been going to the OBX for years with my family and now that I do not live with them anymore I want to go with some friends. There are four of us - three 20 year olds and one 21 year old. We are all not related and would really like to rent a house/timeshare for the week of 8/14/10. We are more than happy to pay a security deposit of $1000 or more as we are all responsible and will not damage any house. We are all US Military. I tried a google search to see if I could find someone who would rent to us and had no luck. Do you know of anyone/company that rents to people that are in our situation? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your note. You are in a difficult spot not only because of age, but also because of timing. August 14 is only a few weeks away and I imagine many of the houses are already booked.

One person to call is Brenda Horne at Sun Realty. Brenda is the office manager at Sun's Duck office. Her number is 1-800-843-2033. Mention my name (I am the owner of DL-33) and that you are military. That will show responsibility and people in OBX have great respect for the military.

There are many great Outer Banks rental companies that I am sure would be happy to help you. Hopefully, someone from Paramount, Outer Beaches, or Twiddy might respond to this posting.

I would rent you my houses, but they are already booked.

Non Family group rental

I see that you are a non-family group in the military. While Sun Realty does not usually rent to non-family groups, we are happy to contact a homeowner on your behalf to see if they would make an exception. Please call me at 800-334-4745 ext. 250 or e-mail me at katieslaughter@sunrealtync.com with your search criteria. I will be happy to give you the available properties so that you can pick 1 or 2 that you like. We can then contact the homeowner(s) to see if they will make an exception with a security deposit for your group. I managed to book a property through Sun Realty from August 15-22 with a $500 security deposit.
