Life's Just a Little More Laid Back
on the Outer Banks

Monica Brady speaks about the Outer Banks of North Carolina

Monica Brady and her husband are the proud parents of twins. As you can imagine, having twins can make things interesting, to say the least. Hence, Monica now authors the blog Mommy Brain Report: Twin Tested, Mommy Approved. Follow all of the travails of this mother of twins.

Monica and her family recently made their first trip to the Outer Banks, and instantly fell in love. Find out why.

Outer Banks Revealed: When did you first visit the Outer Banks of North Carolina and what makes you keep coming back?

Monica: Our very first visit was just a couple of weekends ago. We stayed at the Colony IV and really liked it. We could see the Wright Brothers Monument from our room! We actually went up there to meet some friends and just fell in love with the Outer Banks. The people are so friendly, and the ocean is amazing. We love the history, and the photo opportunities!

Outer Banks Revealed: What make the Outer Banks different from other beach vacation spots you've visited?

Monica: Life is just a little more laid back in the Outer Banks. There’s no rushing around. You can't, otherwise you'll miss something. I loved how relaxing everything was. It was a great change of pace from the everyday things we worry about.

Outer Banks Revealed: What is your favorite Outer Banks town? Why?

Monica: So far, Kill Devil Hills. We haven't had the chance to explore any more, but will soon! We loved it because of the Wright Brothers Monument. We had so much fun flying our little airplanes, and teaching our girls about the history of flight. We explored a little bit of Nags Head and really loved it there too. It's just so beautiful!

Outer Banks Revealed: What is your favorite thing to do on the Outer Banks? Why?

Monica: Honestly ... It's just to explore. We have plans to return to see all of the lighthouses. I've heard the ferry rides are pretty fun. I want to check out Roanoke Island's The Lost Colony. We loved visiting the beaches and the Wright Brothers Monument, but there is so much more to do!

Outer Banks Revealed: If you met someone who never visited the Outer Banks, what are the top five things you would tell them they had to do? Why?

Monica: Just take time to enjoy it all! Definitely see the Wright Brothers Memorial. Check out the lighthouses ... They're breathtaking. Roanoke Island sounds like a lot of fun, and the history is awesome. Check out the awesome seafood restaurants. There are some amazing places. One of our favorites now is Goombay's Grill & Raw Bar. Amazing service and even more amazing food!

Outer Banks Revealed: What is the one thing that is at the top of your list of things you still want to do?

Monica: The top thing on my list is to go back and venture out to the lighthouses. We really want to take a week or so and travel from the northernmost point to the southernmost point of the Outer Banks. My girls LOVE traveling, and so do my hubby and I! Can't wait till our next trip over to the OBX!
