Lived in Kitty Hawk 83-84, on the beach road, next to a mom and pop laundromat. Is it still there along with the house to the right of it and the one behind it?

Seems things have changed a bit ...
by: Dan

Dear Darren,

So I?ve sat on this one for a few days trying to get you an answer. I reached out to several people I know on the Outer Banks, and Judith Bailey, who writes the Hidden Gems series did a little research. Here is what she found:

I looked on the satellite image on the place described and that is the Big Eye Seafood place now, it was originally a farm market when it was first built. But that failed. So I know that they built it from scratch so they must have torn down the house this person lived in to build the plant place.

I would need more info on the KH one. Most of the laundromats have gone bye-bye because all the rental houses now have built in facilities. That was sort of a mom and pop rental house concept, no laundry.

Apparently, Darren, you are about to find a different Kitty Hawk than the one you left back in 1984. I hope you enjoy your stay!

Kind regards,
Dan

Thank you!

Thanks Dan and everyone who did research on my question. I guess after 26 years you can't expect things to remain the same. Can't wait to see how OBX has changed. Love this web page! Lots of good info! Darren
