A Few Children Targeted Events

Thank you for your question. Here are a few events that I was able to track down. I am sure there will be others announced the closer to Thanksgiving that we get.

Hangin? With Santa
November 25 - 26
Kitty Hawk Kites (mp 12.5), Nags Head. Children can have their free photo taken with Santa in a demonstration Hang Glider Friday and Saturday, set up at Kitty Hawk Kites in Nags Head. This event is free, so bring your cameras!! Friday 10am-2pm and Saturday 1pm-6pm.

Island Foodways
November 25 and 26
10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Looking for something to do with the family after Thanksgiving? Come to Island Farm as we interpret fall food traditions and share how Roanoke Island families prepared for winter during the 1850s. Some activities will include: hearth cooking, food preservation, ox-drawn wagon rides from 10am-noon, corn shucking and shelling in the afternoon. Bring a nonperishable food item and receive $1 off admission to the farm. Goods will be donated to the Roanoke Island Food Pantry. Standard admission of $6 (or $5 with donation of canned good), children ages 5 and under admitted free. Website: theislandfarm.com

Craft Show - The Hatteras Island Arts and Craft Guild
November 25 - 26
Cape Hatteras Secondary School on Route 12 in Buxton. 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Free admission, food and a scholarship raffle.

Kites with Lights
November 26th
Jockey's Ridge State Park (mp 12.5), Nags Head. Watch the night sky magically transform as kites with lights glow in the sky atop Jockey?s Ridge State Park. Join us for hot apple cider and cookies beginning 4pm across the street at the Kitty Hawk Kites store. Kites go up around 3pm and will be in the sky until 6pm. This is a very well attended event so get there early to get your parking spot!

Friday, November 25, Horse Painting! 11:00 - 2:00 We supply the brushes, paint, smocks and wooden horses, you supply the imagination. Various size wooden horses available ranging from $4 up to $35. All Ages.

Friday, November 25 - Storytime! Snuggle up on a horse blanket, enjoy some refreshments and hear about The Adventures of Red Feather, a wild Corolla stallion with a taste for adventure! Hourly readings from 11:00 - 3:00. Books available for purchase.
